A doctoral supervisor for the online Doctor of Education – Higher Education at the University of Liverpool, Dr Anthony Edwards gained his masters and PhD at the University of Liverpool, exploring the relationship between technical innovation and education. He originally trained as a teacher and worked in a number of different educational settings in the UK and other countries and as an educational consultant for a number of companies including British Petroleum.
He was until quite recently Head of the School of Educational Studies at Liverpool Hope University with overall responsibility for the provision in Childhood and Youth Studies, Education Studies, Early Childhood Studies and Special Educational Needs provision. He was also an Associate Professor of Education.
Dr Edwards has published widely on the link between education and technology and the use of social networking. His most recent publications include New Technology and Education published by Bloomsbury, and ‘Building practical knowledge through networked agentic argument’ in the Journal of Workplace Learning. He has presented at a number of international conferences including the European Association for Research, Learning and Instruction in Munich on the subject of ‘Learning in a flexible space: the interplay of teacher and student agency’ and EDULEARN in Barcelona on ‘Ethical issues related to knowledge sharing and building in collaborative virtual environments’.
