Dr Kennedy has been a tutor on online doctoral programmes the University of Liverpool since 2012. In addition, she is a Research Officer in learning technologies at the London Knowledge Lab, UCL Institute of Education, where she researches ways of sharing practice in online learning.
She has a background in sociology and philosophy with over 20 years’ teaching and research experience in higher education, mostly focused on the sociology of the media, gender, leisure and sport. She began to explore the uses of technology while teaching sociology at Roehampton University, which led her to move into the field of Education Studies.
Dr Kennedy’s current research is focused on ways of improving the experience of learning with technology. Current projects involve an exploration of students' affective practice within the online learning environment, and the development the Learning Designer toolkit (the Learning Designer online tool to support lesson planning, and the CRAM tool to analyse the costs and benefits of different teaching modes).
