Dr Reis Jorge is a module tutor and thesis supervisor for the online Doctor of Education – Higher Education at the University of Liverpool. He gained his PhD in Education from the University of Bristol focusing on professional development for teachers and the teacher as researcher.
Having started his career as a secondary school teacher (mainstream and adult education) he was a Lector of Portuguese at the University of Bristol and the University of Hull. Dr Reis Jorge was Adjunct Professor and President of ISEC, the Higher Institute of Education and Sciences, in Lisbon. He is currently Professor of Education, Chair of the Scientific Committee, and Dean of the School of Education at ISEC.
Dr Reis Jorge has researched and published on approaches to teacher training and professional development, models of supervision in higher education, teacher appraisal and assessment of teacher performance, reflective practice, and the development of teachers as practitioner researchers. He is a member of the Editorial Board and peer reviewer for Teaching and Teacher Education, Elsevier, and a peer reviewer for Teaching in Higher Education, Routledge. He is a member of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (SPCE) and the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI).
