Dr Ferreira is an Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Liverpool, teaching different modules in the professional Doctorate in Doctor of Education – Higher Education and supervising doctoral theses.
Dr Ferreira has a bachelors degree in special education as well as a masters and a PhD in pedagogical psychology. For 15 years he worked in a special education institution, integrating a multidisciplinary team of specialists. He has worked in higher education in Portugal since 1999 and has held a number of posts including Head of Department, Chair of the Scientific Council and coordinator of a masters programme. He has taught courses in Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Curriculum and Pedagogical Differentiation, and Teaching and Learning Methodologies. He has several peer reviewed publications in Portugal, Spain, Poland, Italy and Brazil and he has given conferences in Poland, Germany, Spain and Estonia.
Dr Ferreira is a Visiting Professor at the University of Lisbon in the Education, Social Sciences and Humanities Department where he lectures in the field of special educational needs and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students.
