Dr Gillian Woolhead has a PhD in public health from the University of Bristol in the area of social medicine. She is interested in exploring the ways in which social and cultural issues affect people’s understanding of health and illness; investigating perceptions and experience of health, illness and disability; examining the doctor-patient relationship; exploring lay diagnosis and help-seeking behaviour; and understanding health inequalities. Her research has involved designing, conducting and analysing qualitative data, and she has worked on a number of large-scale qualitative projects. She has published extensively and presented at various conferences.
