REFERRAL PROGRAMME Terms & Conditions

Effective 1 July 2018

The Referral Plan (the "Plan") is offered by Laureate Online Education B.V. (Laureate) under the brand name of the University of Liverpool Online Programmes.

Purpose

For current and prospective students to share the experience and benefits of undertaking an online postgraduate programme with people they know. By encouraging other prospective students to join them at the University of Liverpool Online Programmes, both parties can benefit from tuition fee reductions and/or e-store vouchers (“Incentives”).

Classification

“Advocate” is the term used for a person who refers a friend, colleague or family member (“Friend”) to the University of Liverpool Online Programmes. “Referral” is the term used for the act of referring a Friend to the University of Liverpool Online Programmes.

Advocates

An Advocate can be a student currently enrolled with the University of Liverpool Online Programmes (“Student Advocate”) or a graduate of the University of Liverpool Online Programmes (“Graduate Advocate”). Prospective students of the University of Liverpool Online Programmes can also participate in this Plan; however, Incentives will be awarded only after all Qualification criteria are met. Some Students or Graduates may be excluded from this Plan, please see “Non Eligible”-section of these Terms and Conditions for more information.

Friends

A Friend can be a friend, colleague or family member of the Advocate. For the Advocate or Friend to qualify for an Incentive, the Friend must not be a graduate or a student of the University of Liverpool Online Programmes, or already be in the University of Liverpool Online Programmes’ database of active prospective students.

Referral process

Advocates must refer a Friend to the University directly by sharing a personalised URL generated by the University of Liverpool, Online programmes. A personalised URL can be provided by an Enrolment Advisor on request, be shared by email as part of a campaign, or be generated and obtained automatically by filling in a digital form at https://www.university-liverpool-online.com/about/referral-programme.

Through the personalised referral URL, Friends will be asked to fill in a digital form, share with us their personal details and to confirm that they agree with us getting in direct contact with them. All required form fields must be completed by the Friend themselves.

Receiving information through the personalised URL will allow the University of Liverpool, Online Programmes to identify participants of this Plan and to further validate eligibility of Advocates and Friends for the Incentives. Incentives for both the Advocate and Friends will be awarded automatically after all qualification criteria for both are met.

Laureate reserves the right to limit, reject, or cancel referrals involving an Advocate or Friend who disregards these terms and conditions.

Qualified Friend

In order for Incentives to apply in relation to a Referral, the Referral must meet the “Referral Conditions”; most importantly, the conditions for a “Qualified Friend”, which are as follows, should be met:

  • A Friend’s contact details must be submitted directly through an Advocate’s personalised share link and must include all required information. The Friend must have been referred to the University through the Plan no longer than 12 months before enrolling as a student of the University.
  • The Friend must not be a graduate or a student of the University of Liverpool Online Programmes, or already be in our database of active and prospective students.
  • The Friend must be enrolled as a student, have passed day 14 in the programme, and must have paid for his/her first module.

Furthermore, prospective student Advocates must be enrolled as a student within 12 months after referring a student, have passed day 14 in the programme and have paid for their first module as well before both Advocates and Friends can benefit from this Plan.

Incentive for the Advocate

For the Advocate, the Incentive will be a US$1,000* tuition fee reduction or a US$500* e-store voucher as specified below. In all cases, the award of an Incentive depends on all required conditions being met. There can be only one Incentive awarded in relation to one specific Friend

A. Tuition Fee Reduction
For Student Advocates who are still paying their tuition fees, the standard Incentive will be a US$1,000* tuition fee reduction, made available after the conditions for a Qualified Friend are met. The Incentive will be applied to the Advocate’s tuition fee account to help pay for his/her online studies with the University of Liverpool Online Programmes. See for the following exceptions:

For a Student Advocate who is still paying his/her fees, the Tuition Fee Reduction cannot exceed the open balance of the cost of his/her total tuition fee. If the open balance of his/her total tuition fee is less than US$1,000*, he/she will only receive a tuition fee reduction equal to the amount owed.

The Student Advocate can only receive one US$1,000* tuition fee reduction per module. If a Student Advocate earns more Incentives than there are modules remaining to pay for in his/her programme, the Alternative Incentive, as described below, will apply.

B. Alternative Incentive
Graduate Advocates and Student Advocates who have paid their fees in full, will be eligible for an Alternative Incentive, made available after the conditions for a Qualified Friend are met, consisting of one of the following three options:

  1. He/she may receive an e-store voucher to the value of US$500* (or, in some cases, the equivalent in another currency). This is the standard ‘default’ Incentive.
  2. He/she may pass the US$1,000*tuition fee reduction Incentive to his/her Qualified Friend. (This is only possible if the Qualified Friend has not yet paid his/her tuition fees in full).
There is no limit to the number of Incentives that an individual Advocate can pass on to referred Friends, provided that they have not yet paid their tuition fees in full.
  3. He/she may save the US$1,000* tuition fee reduction Incentive for a maximum period of one year in order to have it applied to his/her tuition fee account when he/she starts a new programme of study with the University of Liverpool Online Programmes. (After the maximum period of one year, the Incentive will no longer be available).

Graduate Advocates and fully paid Student Advocates who wish to avail themselves of Option 2 or Option 3 must indicate this wish in writing to an Enrolment Advisor of the University at the latest by the time their Friend is confirmed as Qualified. Otherwise, Laureate will award the standard ‘default’ Alternative Incentive: an e-store voucher.

Incentive for the referred Friend

For the referred Friend, the Incentive will be a US$500* tuition fee reduction – after the conditions for a Qualified Friend are met.
If the Qualified Friend has paid his/her tuition in full, the Incentive will be a US$500* e-store voucher instead.

Award of Incentives

Any Incentive or Alternative Incentive will be awarded only after the referred Friend becomes a Qualified Friend and all other Referral Conditions are met.

The standard US$1,000* tuition fee reduction Incentive will be applied to an Advocate Student’s next open invoice.

The US$500* e-store voucher Alternative Incentive (for Graduate Advocates and fully paid Student Advocates) will be sent to the email address provided by the Advocate.

The US$500* tuition fee reduction Incentive (for the Qualified Friend) will be applied to the first invoice of a student’s second module, after he/she has paid for his/her first module.

The US$500* e-store voucher (for the Qualified Friend who elects to pay his/her tuition in full) will be sent to the email address provided by the Qualified Friend.

The above Incentives have no cash or monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash in any form. Other than described above, Advocates and Friends are not allowed to exchange or share their Incentives, or part thereof, together or with third parties.

  • Friends who are employed by an organisation with whom the University of Liverpool Online Programmes has a corporate partnership are also excluded from participation. False Information

The making, by any party, of false or misleading statements that result in misuse or misinterpretation of the product, benefits or features provided by the University or Laureate will be cause for an immediate cancellation of, or ineligibility for, any (future) Incentive or Alternative Incentive offered under this agreement. The University and Laureate reserve the right to limit, reject, or cancel referrals involving an Advocate or Friend who disregards these terms and conditions and to (temporarily or definitively) exclude any individual from participating in or benefiting from this Plan in case these terms and conditions are breached.
