From California, USA, Courtney graduated with distinction in July 2017. Two weeks later, she was starting in a new post as Executive Assistant to the CEO and CFO of an outpatient clinic in Milan, Italy.
“The online degree has helped me move ahead,” said Courtney, who fitted her studies in around her freelance work as a language services provider in Milan. “I’ve been hired to help the clinic manage their customer relationship management changeover project and restructure their service model.”
It was the professional change that Courtney had been aiming for when she chose to study online with the University. “I wanted to improve my business and organisational skills and expertise in order to have greater career opportunities. As an entrepreneur, I was not able to stop working in order to study, so I chose the online programme. The University of Liverpool's online MSc in Project Management programme offered the right combination of intensity, professionalism, international student body, schedule and cost – and it was offered in English,” she said. “I learned a broad range of useful information that specifically helped me in changing careers.”
Sharing ideas with people from around the world and from different fields and industries was one of the highlights of the online master’s. Passionate about travel, Courtney even managed to take her studies with her on a boat trip down the Nile. It’s an approach that worked well: in addition to a distinction, she won a Dissertation of the Year award for her master’s consultancy project related to creating a bilingual work environment in an Italian enterprise.
What’s next? “I plan to prepare for the Project Management Institute’s certification exam and to enjoy the challenges of my new job,” said Courtney.
