What attracted you to studying online with the University of Liverpool for this degree?

Two key points attracted me to study online with the University of Liverpool: the reputation of the University and the fact that the masters study was 100% online, allowing me to manage my time and fit study hours into my work programme.

What were the highlights of your study and what challenges did you face?

The best was the teamwork with people across the world that was so exactly like my experience in real life. Also, after each module I could use everything I had learned. It was like getting a knowledge download that could be applied directly in my work. Challenges? I was not aware of the amount of work required to fulfill the requirements of each module in order to make the most of it. I had to allocate additional time to do proper research using the wonderful online library.

How did you fit online study into your busy working life?

I studied in airplanes, airports, wrote my discussion question answers in internet cafes in between meetings. I printed a lot of papers to read in the airplanes or in hotels in order to evaluate their inclusion in my dissertation.

How is the degree and the research you did for your dissertation helping your career?

I get more job proposals. It makes a big difference in the company and with the interactions with clients. For my dissertation, I developed a software development project risk management framework that I have now incorporated into our processes at work.

What did it mean to you to graduate in person in Liverpool?

It was a great experience. It was my reward for successfully finishing the programme and also a reward for my wife for her understanding and support. The ceremony was fantastic and I had the chance to meet other students and exchange experiences. I am very glad that I attended the graduation in person.

I would recommend the University of Liverpool because…

it offers high quality education and gives you knowledge and tools you can apply directly in your work.
