What motivated you to study for an MBA?
When I was young I always admired people with MBA degrees and I wanted to get one myself.
I chose to study online mainly because of my family ties. I wanted to be close to my husband, we run a family business together so I did not want to leave him all by himself. The online study was convenient for me because I was right there in my home, in my country, at my work and at the same time studying. What kept you going during the course?
First of all my goal, I wanted to get to the finish line. And I met interesting people in class, and I was able to learn a lot about the business climate in other countries, so that kept me going. I wanted to know more, I wanted to see more and I wanted to meet more people from different parts of the world, right in my own living room. How did you manage your time?
I learnt a lot from the introductory module, which was on time management. It taught me a lot about how to combine different tasks and at the same time achieve my goals. As time went on I had to cut down a little bit on other aspects, my social life especially. And I was lucky to have a family that helped me. It’s about prioritising one’s life and tasks and things like that. Giving attention to the most important things, knowing that it’s only for a short time. Then the MBA is over and life continues.Do you think the MBA helped you become a better leader, in your job?
Yes, quite a lot. Prior to studying the leadership module I had often thought that a leader should be tough, and be able to control and direct, things like that. But much more than that, I learned that a leader should be understanding, someone with a lot of patience. I feel I have become a better leader, it was like I was rediscovering my own employees, and it helped me be a better manager of employees and employee issues. So it’s helped me a great deal. What advice would you give a current student about to choose their dissertation topic?
I would advise that a dissertation topic should be based on life experiences, because then you actually enjoy doing the research. It’s very important to be passionate about your topic because that will drive your commitment and the time you give to it.What are your ambitions now you have an MBA?
I think it will give me better opportunities with my clients, with business colleagues and things like that. I can already sense some interest from different quarters, so I think it will enhance my career a great deal.I would recommend the University of Liverpool because...
It’s one of the top universities in the United Kingdom, and they offer good education. The instructors are very knowledgeable, they were very understanding, and always ready to help.
