Liverpool – 16 August 2018 – The University of Liverpool celebrated almost 1,100 graduates from its online master’s, doctoral and postgraduate certificate programmes during ceremonies and events in Liverpool. More than 400 online graduates, representing 84 countries attended the celebrations in Liverpool from 16th-20th July 2018. The latest graduating class joins the University of Liverpool’s worldwide network of more than 219,000 alumni located across 171 countries.
“We are delighted to celebrate all of the hard work, passion and dedication of our 2018 graduates who tuned-in live or travelled across the world with family and friends to join us here in Liverpool,” said Professor Gavin Brown, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education. “Our highly-skilled graduates will not only be making a positive difference in their fields but in their local communities and beyond.”
In addition to graduation, students had the opportunity to meet fellow classmates and faculty members at the Online Graduates Recognition Ceremony and Reception at St. George’s Hall in Liverpool.
“For many of our graduates, it’s the first time they are meeting in person,” said Professor Brown. “It serves as a fantastic networking opportunity, connecting people from across the globe in diverse disciplines and at various organisational levels.”
The reception also honoured 12 graduates from several online programmes who were present to receive Dissertation of the Year Awards and Student of the Year Awards, given for outstanding performance throughout the programme. This full list of award recipients include:
“Studying online was such a rewarding experience, and I’m so proud that I’ve done it with the University of Liverpool,” said Claudia Attard Haber, an MSc in International Accounting and Finance graduate. “It has helped me enhance my knowledge and experience, as well as my career.”
Graduation ceremonies are held twice a year at the University of Liverpool and graduates from the online programmes have the option to receive their degree or certificate in person.
