Liverpool – 13 September 2018 – The University of Liverpool’s online computer science master’s programmes have all received full accreditation from the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute of IT.

This accreditation recognises the quality of the University’s online programmes and equips students with the knowledge, insights and skills to become a registered Chartered IT Professional (CITP), which is considered the highest benchmark of IT excellence. The CITP standard has been developed in consultation with public and private sector employers and the academic community.

The five newly accredited programmes include:

  • The MSc in Advanced Computer Science programme allows students to develop sought-after skills in the use of algorithms and intelligent systems in some of the most contemporary fields of computer science, such as Big Data Analytics and Cyber Security. One of the only UK Advanced Computer Science degrees delivered entirely online, it provides students an opportunity to gain real-world skills to design, implement and execute creative computation solutions.
  • The MSc in Big Data Analytics programme provides students with the skills to capitalise on the potential of big data and analytics to transform business decision-making and planning. The online programme equips students with the skills to be able to use big data using appropriate tools and techniques, while also examining the underlying technology and concepts.
  • The MSc in Cyber Security programme offers students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive and critical understanding of the theory and techniques of contemporary cyber security. As well, as gain a more in depth overview of how to apply these in response to real-world business problems.
  • The MSc in information Systems Management programme focuses on innovation management and leadership in information systems management. It gives students the skills and knowledge to drive growth, innovation and change within organisations, by leveraging the power of technology.
  • The MSc in Software Engineering programme allows students to develop practical skills to design, implement and manage high-quality software products. The course focuses on the management of large and creative products, making it especially relevant for those seeking to become software experts, pursue senior managerial positions or work in consultancy roles. Students will learn software-modelling, design, testing, quality assurance as well as other skills that will help them gain a more thorough understanding of constructing complex software systems.

Graduates will also qualify for a professional membership with the BCS, providing them with access to a robust network of members and career development tools and resources.
