Liverpool - 14 July, 2014 - The University of Liverpool’s online programmes have received recognition from the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). The University has been added to the Ministry’s recommended list of universities offering online degrees.
This recognition and recommendation reflects the fact that the University’s online programmes meet certain criteria. Each programme must offer interactive e-learning, be recognised officially by the government of the country where the institution is based, and have an accredited or recognised curriculum in that country. In addition, the minimum length of study for an online programme must not be less than the study period for a comparable programme taught by traditional means.
“We are pleased to receive this recognition from the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and we take great pride in the fact that students in the UAE have access to quality online programmes,” said Professor Sir Howard Newby, Vice-Chancellor, University of Liverpool.
“This recognition demonstrates that our online degree programmes meet the same requirements and standards as our traditional campus-based programmes, and it is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our University to provide postgraduate degree programmes in a flexible, international and collaborative learning environment,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
The University of Liverpool and its online programmes are regulated and monitored by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the independent body responsible for higher-education standards in the United Kingdom.
