A UK leader for research excellence, the University of Liverpool’s Department of Computer Science offers a suite of 100% online programmes – including one-year postgraduate certificate programmes – that empower working professionals around the world to move into or move up in IT careers.
Part of the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, the Department works closely with industry partners to develop innovative technologies and applications in fields ranging from mobile computing to artificial intelligence.
Our fully online master’s programmes reflect the strategic priorities of organisations in a changing technological landscape. Learning through an innovative, cloud-based server platform that mirrors a real-world IT work environment, you will be able to develop practical, solution-oriented skills in growth areas such as big data analytics, cyber security and information systems management.
The University of Liverpool’s online MSc in Information Technology and online MSc in Software Engineering are accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Accreditation is a mark of quality, demonstrating that the programme meets the standards set by BCS. Graduates with a BCS-accredited degree are entitled to professional membership of BCS, which is an important part of the criteria for achieving Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status through the Institute. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by countries that have signed international accords. The 2014 Research Excellence Framework rated 97% of the department’s research as being world-leading or internationally excellent, the highest proportion of any Computer Science department in the UK.
