Online Postgraduate Award in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Entry Requirements


ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

For admission to this programme, you will be expected to have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology or a master’s degree in psychology from an accredited college or university, or
  • A degree in another discipline or an Ofqual-recognised Level 6 qualification, and at least two years of work experience, and GCSE Grade 3 (grade C) or GCE O Level pass in Mathematics and English, or an equivalent qualification

You may still be able to participate in a postgraduate programme if you do not have the qualifications listed above, provided you can satisfy the University that you are suitably qualified to undertake a postgraduate programme. In addition, you must have at least two years of work experience and a GCSE Grade 3 (grade C) or GCE O Level pass in Mathematics and English, or an equivalent qualification.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

You must prove that you meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements for this programme by providing results of an IELTS/TEEP or TOEFL exam taken in the last five years unless:

  • You are a citizen of an English-speaking country (as defined by the UK government)*
  • You have completed a UK-equivalent bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programme conducted entirely in English and were awarded a degree (you must show evidence of this degree)

Published work in English cannot be used as evidence of English language proficiency.

  • An overall score of at least 6.5, and
  • A score of at least 7 on each of the reading and writing elements, and
  • The IELTS reading and writing tests taken by candidates must be the Academic Reading and Academic Writing tests
  • CA score of at least 570 on the paper based test, or
  • A score of at least 88 on the internet based test (with a minimum of 22 in both the reading and the writing components), or
  • A score of at least 230 on the computer based test (with a score of at least 4.5 on the essay section of the test)
